“War Racket is Oscar-bait!”

General Smedley Butler was twice decorated with the Medal of Honor but displayed even greater courage to preserve the U.S. Constitution and save the Republic by preventing a coup by some of the richest men in the United States. Including the Bush family patriarch! “Amsterdam” had an auteur’s take on the tale. But why hasn’t this been turned into Butler focussed Oscar bait for Pitt, Clooney, Damon, or Affleck? There’s plenty of room for a bravura performance in a flick with a relevant message that should appeal to red and blue audiences alike.
