Fan Fiction

Greetings, Scribblers!

I know some of y'all might be thinking. "Fanfiction? Isn't that just a bunch of guys in their fifties scribbling mushy love stories about Rey and Kylo?" Nope.

Fanfiction is about taking the characters, settings, and plots that we know and love from our favorite TV shows, movies, or video games, and putting our own flavor on them.

It's like being handed the keys to your dream ride, but instead of cruising, you get to trick it out with all the dopest mods you've always wanted.

It’s a playground where anything goes. You already know the rules of the game, but now you get to make up your own plays.

Scribbling fanfiction is an epic tool for leveling up your skills. When you're working with established characters and worlds, you can focus on things like character development, plot pacing, and narrative arcs without getting bogged down in the details of world-building. It's a storytelling boot camp.

Pick a fandom that you're passionate about, and start exploring. You know who the characters are, what they want, what they do, where they live, all of the things. No pressure, no judgment, just write the stories you've always wanted to see, read, or play. Take risks, try new things, and see where your imagination takes you.

Remember E.L. James and "Fifty Shades of Grey." That series started as "Twilight" fanfiction, and now it's a global phenomenon. It just goes to show that playing in someone else's sandbox can sometimes lead to a career.

Maybe your fanfic will be the next big thing. But that’s not the goal, it’s about becoming a better and more confident scribbler.
